Rose Twine will be speaking at the Bunyoro Kitara International Convention 2025. She is our 2025 “success story.” For many years, Rose lived and worked in the United Kingdom, working for the NHS and also owning a private business. In 2011, she made a daring decision to close her firm in the UK and return to Uganda to start her own business.
With just a concept, an eco- stove was born. It cooks, lights the house, charges phones, plays music/MP3, and irons. It is a multimillion-dollar corporation that is the first of its kind on the African continent.
On average, only 10% of Uganda’s population has access to electricity or gas; the remaining 89% rely on charcoal and firewood. Rose set out to create a stove that would address wood scarcity, be cost-effective, and provide clean energy. She tackled issue of deforestation and the cost of electricity, lowering the energy cost by 85%. The cooker uses volcanic rocks and solar power to generate an intense heat source, producing more efficient, smoke-free cooking.
Eco stove Technology aims to increase off-grid families and enterprises’ access to renewable energy. Its unique technology has immediately impacted the environment, health, and social economy.
Rose has recently entered the hospitality industry with her 5-star facility, Nile Bamboo Lodge. A recently constructed mid-range accommodation located in Nwoya, Pakwach East, on the banks of the Nile River, overlooking the breathtaking Murchison Falls National Park Uganda region.
Rose Twine is an inspirational story. She has not only responded to a need but also been very successful at her business.
She is a trailblazer, a pioneer and truly a force to reckon with. Her story is inspirational to all that live in the diaspora and have a dream of relocating to uganda to start a business.
